Six days to go.

You can feel the anticipation building. The teams are arriving, the fans are converging, and Shakira and Burna Boy’s official World Cup song is becoming a bit of an earworm. It’s no ‘Waka Waka’, but we’re sure we’ll be humming it constantly by the end of June.

In today’s SVQ we’ll be looking at the average age of each 2026 World Cup squad and bringing you our group stage predictions via the Opta supercomputer.

We also have an Ask Opta question about potent goalscorers, and as it’s Friday, how about a five-question World Cup quiz? Don’t worry, we’ll bring back ‘Missing Players’ next week.

And just a reminder that from next week, you’ll be receiving SVQ each day from Monday to Friday. We can hear you cheering and punching the air in delight from here.

If you haven’t done so already, be sure to add us to your trusted senders list to make sure SVQ doesn’t end up in your junk folder. It’s dark in there and we get scared easily.

Anyway, let’s get on with more World Cup previewing…
