Congratulations to Paris Saint-Germain on winning the UEFA Champions League for a second season in a row.
Don’t worry, though, Arsenal fans. We won’t be discussing Saturday’s final here, because today is our first newsletter dedicated to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
As we mentioned in last week's SVQ, we’ll be sending out regular World Cup newsletters from today until the end of the tournament next month. This is the first of three this week (also on Wednesday and Friday) and from next week, you’ll be receiving a World Cup SVQ each day from Monday to Friday. That’s five a week, each with the latest World Cup data stories, interesting Opta facts, and plenty of trivia to keep you across the latest goings on.
With just 10 days to go until the opening game between Mexico and South Africa, we better get on with it. Please enjoy our first 2026 World Cup SVQ and be sure to tell your family and friends to join in by subscribing here for free.
🌎 STAT - How Much Football Will There Be at the World Cup?
History will be made.
The 2026 World Cup will be the first to feature 48 participating countries, with the tournament split across the three host nations of the United States, Mexico and Canada.
We always love a feast of football during a World Cup, but this will be more like a feast followed by an extra supper. By July we’ll probably all be like that fella in Monty Python’s Meaning of Life who really shouldn’t have eaten that wafer-thin mint (ask your parents).
But just how much football will there be?
